About Lemonade Day

Lemonade Day is a communtiy event created by Prepared 4 Life (P4L) and designed to reach the many youth that we cannot reach through our after-school programming.  It transforms not only the youth who participate, but the entire community. Our ambitious goal this year is to register 50,000 lemonade stands.

We invite you to be part of this upbeat, positive project that unites Houstonians of all ages and celebrates an American tradition. Last year Mayor Bill White declared an official “Lemonade Day,” the public park system opened its doors free-of-charge to our young entrepreneurs, Astros All Star Jeff Bagwell became our official spokesperson, and Lemonhead was adopted as our mascot. Thousands of youth benefited, and even more will be affected this year.

History

Lemonade Day was founded by Prepared 4 Life in 2007 in Houston, TX.  This first year was a learning experience in which about 2,600 kids registered for the inaugural Lemonade Day.  In 2008, about 11,000 kids registered and the contests were added.  In 2009, Lemonade Day expanded to Austin Texas and Wayne County Indiana.  A total of about 31,000 kids registered in 2009.
